About Us

Who We Are

The Global Digital Economy Forum (GDEF) is an independent international organisation comprising government officials, academic researchers, and industry practitioners united by a shared commitment to advancing cooperative governance for the digital economy. Established in June 2021, our members span more than 50 countries and bring deep expertise across regulation, finance, technology, and public policy.

The Forum provides an impartial platform for multistakeholder dialogue — bringing together diverse perspectives to foster institutional trust, share evidence-based knowledge, and develop implementable governance frameworks that address the most pressing challenges of the digital age.

Our Councils

GDEF is governed and guided by two complementary councils, each contributing distinct expertise and perspectives to our work.

Professional Council

The Professional Council comprises industry executives, government officials, and senior practitioners with deep expertise in the digital economy. Members bring real-world experience in financial services, technology, regulation, and public administration, ensuring that GDEF's work remains grounded in practical realities and policy relevance.

Academic Council

The Academic Council is made up of professors, PhD researchers, and senior scholars specializing in digital economy topics — from fintech and blockchain to data governance and AI ethics. These members contribute rigorous, evidence-based analysis and help shape GDEF's research agenda and publications.
